SNOW DAY!!

Yesterday they declared that today would be a snow day! So of course I took the opportunity to go outside and experience winter.

I went into the park across the street and James was already there getting started on a snowman

2nd ave, usually bustling with taxis and buses and cars was relatively empty

I got to Union Square where people were out in full force having snowball fights and building lil snowmen

Out my window the view looked even better than it always does

Happy Snow Day everyone

Foundation's Funny

I feel so silly in foundation year. Maybe that's just because I always act like I'm 5 years old, but I feel like my 3D professor last semester was right when he talked about kindergarden and how the design process includes so much playing around.
There's examples in every class of mine.

2D: We created a pattern through a repeating shape. In the original orientation you couldn't see it, but when flipped on the side (which my professor liked better) you can see the c: face.

(for those who can't see it right away)

3D: The project is to make a head covering that makes a statment about an issue. Mine is on not realizing how much we waste materials/products. This is Sam's project, though. I'm just bein' cute with it. (my favorite part is the asian chick in the background laughin' at me)

Drawing: My themed drawing turned out pretty good. The theme was "28" and no one better steal the idea for next week's theme (grid) or else...

Plus my hands get so dirty all the time. The girl next to me finger painted today:

Lab:
We made an entrance and mine ended up being based on the tactile sense more than the visual:

I went first in the class for critiques, and immediately my professor said it looked like a mouth. I felt pretty immature giggling away.

Still, I'm glad I can keep my childlike personality. Without it, I think I'd lose my kewt.

Pasta Night! With Molly!

Last night Molly came up to my room and we made an extravagant pasta feast. Check out the photo documentation of our glorious night:
I used that great meatball recipe of my mom's

Then comes the whole wheat pasta from Trader Joe's

And Molly brought a whole jar of sauce and some veggies, which we steamed

And the best part of making food is of course eating it

Or maybe the best part is taking home the leftovers?

A Summertime Fav for the Dead of Winter

The week after I came back from my winter break I didn't have any groceries, so I went crazy with the shopping and went around to Associated (on 14th between 1st ave and avenue A), Trader Joe's (14th between 3rd ave and Union Square) and Food Emporium (14th and Union Square). I don't shop at Whole Foods because it's WAY to expensive for me (as a college student and all), but that's besides the point and I'm just rambling now.

Since Trader Joe's is so great and fairly inexpensive, TONS of people go there all the time, I usually go there really early and get very little. The only thing I got when I was there last time was turkey burgers and mac n cheese. I had lettuce and potatoes, and some lemonade, so I made me a good ole turkey burger and homemade fries to remind me of summer.

Catching Up Finale: Not Much Else

So I've mentioned pretty much everything I said I would. There isn't much catching up left to do I suppose since not a WHOLE lot happened when I was home (not that I'm gonna talk about here anyway...)
I suppose for this final catching up installment I'll give you all a schmorgesboard (is that how you spell it?) of stuff you may have missed.

The Union Square Holiday Market: Left on my desk after coming home from that market (just a joke, obvs): Cute latte art the barista dude gave me at Joe when he informed me there was no more apple cider: In keeping with the kewt theme and the name "Freckle Face," some freckley bananas: Molly and some cute soulful-singin' Doo-wop guys in the subway from when we went to the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA: So that's all for now! Sing me off boiz...

Catching Up pt. VII: The Birthday Card

The ONE TIME I got to see/hang out with Nili (ridiculous I know, since not only are we in the same city, we're a couple blocks away from each other) we went to the Nuyorican Cafe where they have poetry slams every Friday night for $10 entrance.

While we were walking around we spotted this sad, wet thing on the sidewalk. It was probably there for 10-20 minutes or so because it was raining, but it wasn't completely damaged yet. Upon closer investigation we saw that "thing" was a little birthday card and a two-page love/apology note from the same guy.

I kept the card.

I don't know exactly what the note said, but judging how it was left on the ground in the rain, I'm not so sure she's going to call or take back the guy who wrote it.

"Tatyana, [Happy Birthday, Cutie Pie!] Tell me that dog isn't cute? And I'm sorry for the long note in advance. With all the love in the world and more,
Antonio"
